Outputs and Results

Your benefits

eBRIDGE will generate valuable outputs oriented to meet your needs and based on the:

  • eBRIDGE Start-Up kit with tools (BASE, SHARE, CHANGE) and guidelines oriented to optimise operational performance of e-fleets and encourage behavioural change towards electric mobility.
  • Next generation solutions to facilitate the use of electric car sharing offers, for instance approaches to integrate e-fleets with public transport (Valencia and Milan), One-Way service (Valencia) as well as the development of responsive solutions to environmental and spatial planning policies (Milan).
  • Awareness raising and marketing campaigns targeting car users, fleet operators and further relevant stakeholders to improve attitudes towards electric vehicles and favour behavioural change (all sites). In addition, targeted activities to expand the use of electric fleets among local and regional administrations (Carmarthen).
  • Knowledge generation, knowledge transfer and expanded networks. eBRIDGE will elicit and disseminate comprehensive information to set the baseline on market potentials, barriers and perspectives of urban electric fleets (all sites).  A common key findings report will give respective target groups all relevant information at a glance.
  • Scenarios for up-scaled impacts of electric fleets based on project evaluation activities and a scientific modelling approach.
  • Dissemination materials such as newsletters, project leaflets, social media activities, events will be available for all interested stakeholders.
  • Additionally, project events and the project platform will provide the opportunity to join a sustainable network for knowledge exchange. As a result of these activities, eBRIDGE will provide all interested and potential stakeholders with useful information for practical, scientific and decision-making purposes.

5 Good Reasons

  • eBRIDGE provides innovative solutions for the initiation and optimisation of electric fleets and increasing user engagement.
  • eBRIDGE helps you to reduce operating costs, local emissions and benefit from monetary and further incentives.
  • eBRIDGE brings electric vehicles closer to the public and raise awareness on the suitability of electric mobility for urban transport, increasing user acceptance and helping overcome misperceptions and scepticism on the new technology.
  • eBRIDGE contributes to the creation of a broad common understanding on electric fleets, fosters knowledge transfer and expert exchange networks.
  • eBRIDGE aims to inspire policy to foster the development of national electric vehicle diffusion strategies, transnational knowledge exchange and the improvement of efficient and effective instruments to advocate the introduction of electric vehicles in European cities.

Pioneers of the new mobility

The eBRIDGE target groups are pioneers of the new mobility concepts. They will play a main role in the transition to more sustainable cities, leading by the example and showcasing their success. Along the project, fleet operators, public authorities and car users will be engaged with electric mobility and its benefits for urban transport.

eBRIDGE will assist fleet managers of public authorities and private companies to introduce electric vehicles in their fleets and make the most of the know-how, experience and best practice exchange during and after the project.

Car users will have the opportunity of getting closer to electric vehicles and enjoying the driving experience. They will get familiarised with concepts such as battery range, recharging columns, and a noiseless and funny driving.

A more detailed description of the target groups is as follows:

Fleet Operators

As decision-makers, fleet operators of public authorities and private companies are the company assets when it comes to harmonise economical and legislative issues with a satisfactory fleet performance. One solution they can opt for is the introduction of electric mobility in their car policies. This boosts the electric mobility market by increasing the demand of vehicles and recharging infrastructure and empowers the new technology to become a success story.

eBRIDGE will provide fleet operators with practical guidance on how to improve their fleets and introduce electric ones through innovative ideas to test new usage concepts and to establish profitable cooperation.

Car Users

The efficiency and effectiveness of fleets is mainly determined by the usage patterns. The overall development of sustainable mobility behaviour in cities depends on people's travel choices. To inform and motivate car users, either those making private trips or those travelling for business purposes, eBRIDGE will implement local marketing and dissemination activities to promote the wide use of electric vehicles among car users.

The goal is to increase the number of users and the number of electric trips, to familiarise people with the new technology and to make them confident in using it.

National, Regional and Local Authorities

In addition, eBRIDGE focuses on supporting regional and local authorities in European cities to introduce electric vehicles in their mobility plans, to learn from best-practice examples and to assess the impacts of such offers.

Further relevant target groups

Industry sector, urban planners, transport experts, academics and associations with interests in the field of sustainable mobility can benefit from the experiences and results of the project, as well as contribute to a beneficial exchange of know-how.

Berlin

Berlin, the capital of Germany, is a metropolis with 3.3 million inhabitants. The city is transforming continuously and provides a breeding ground for research and innovation. A dense public transport network, low car ownership and an established car sharing landscape with more than 3,500 vehicles are the ideal starting point for new mobility concepts.

Austrian municipalities

In contrast to the global trend, car sharing in Austria remained static for the last 15 years. The introduction of electric mobility on the one hand and the entry of new market players on the other hand have reactivated the sector.

Vigo

Vigo is a big city situated in the province of Pontevedra, in the north-west coast of Spain. As a harbour city, Vigo plays a strategic role for the regional tourism and its solid transport infrastructure makes it a transport hub for the Galician region and the north of the neighboring country Portugal.

Valencia - Palma

The metropolitan area of Valencia, with 1.7 million inhabitants, is the 3rd largest urban agglomeration in Spain. In the last few years, the region has made substantial investments to improve its transportation system with a commitment to promoting the use of sustainable modes of transport.

Milan

Milan, located in the North of Italy, is the second largest Italian city and the capital of Lombardy region. The city covers an area of 182 km2 and has 1.35 million inhabitants. It will host EXPO 2015 and is expecting around 20 million visitors in a year; it is therefore planning a strengthening of its transport service system and has already introduced a Pollution Charge paid by car users entering in the city centre (the so called Area C). The Milan eBRIDGE pilot has been focused on the e-car sharing fleet located into the Area C.

Lisbon

Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal, with a resident population of 547,773 inhabitants. The city is situated on the right bank of River Tagus, in the heart of the country, being its political and major economic centre, presenting a cosmopolitan dynamic as a result of the hundreds of daily movements registered by its floating and resident population.

Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire is one of 22 Welsh administrative divisions (Counties). It is the third largest Welsh County by area, and the fourth largest by population (183,800 inhabitants).
